Hello! and Welcome to the sew a long for 2024
I've decided on something more modern but that can still use up your scrap pieces.
The Modern City Scape is 50" (128cm)
and has 5 blocks in a row with 5 rows = 25 blocks that are 10" (26 cm) each.
This is an Easy Intermediate level and I'm sure that even a beginner can manage.
Each week (Mondays) I will post about the next block and show
my progress on my quilt top.
Once all the pattern is cut out and put into alphabetical order, you need to join the pieces that the software felt were too big for a page and 'broke' to make it fit.
Each has a corresponding number and you need to then join them together before sewing the section.
I use washi tape to stick it down but you can use glue or what ever you prefer.
Make sure that it will not be something that sticks to your iron.
These are the pieces for Block #1 (A - H)
The instructions on how to join the sections once sewn is in the pattern you purchased and is very easy to put together.
** NOTE - I found that in piece C there were 2 of the same colours right next to
each other (C1 and C2) - I just changed one of the colours to #2.
The other one I found is H1 and H2. I changed H1 also to colour #2.
This is our finished block #1.
It took me around 1 hour to make - and I sew really slow.
My back is never happy that I want to do something cool. I don't have enough solids, so it will be a mixture of what I have in my fabric boxes.
Our sew a long is going to take 25 weeks which is really slow and making 1 easy block a week is
also going really slow. For some that's wonderful news but for others
you may want to sew on ahead which is fine with me.
Take photos of your progress and share it with us on the FBook group page.
Join us in making this spectacular quilt or wall hanging or whatever you decide to do with it. We'll be sharing and having fun along the way.
You can join us by paying for the whole pattern up front ($25) No need for emails each week.
You will find the Modern City PDF in my Online Shop.
