This is a block I was thinking about a while ago. The positive and negative shapes always surprise me. This has a Norwegian feel to it - the intricate snowflake shapes that they seem to be able to create in their knitting.
This block measures 12" (30cm) and the middle square can be added on last as an appliqued piece.
