Festive Blocks

I haven't done a whole lot of sewing this week - my back is just killing me. Who knows - age, I suppose.....LOL. I thought today would be nice to have a sit-down and look over these last few months of furiously working to get a small business going.

In keeping with the Festive Season, I think it would be nice to re-visit the blocks I made with this in mind.

Sit back with me, grab a 'hot drink' and let's just slow down for a moment.

I can't decide which block is my favorite, although I did turn the apple block into a cute 6" mug-rug. I just love the little candy cane and the star. All of them actually turned out pretty well.

The tree ornaments - the ball and bells are so cute, and the candle and candy cane are just so sweet (pun intended).

This is the Christmas hat and snowman - both really lovely. I love the look of the red 'fabric' on the hat that you can add by using the EQ7 program.

The presents that go around the tree, brought to you by santa. Must have a huge beard, round pink cheeks and a big smile. The bows that need to go on the presents can be added later by sewing a ribbon onto your block and then tying it into a bow.

This little snowglobe is one that is waiting for me to make. I just love the cute pattern. The little snowman inside is so sweet. He was just too small to add a face and buttons, so those will have to be embroidered on afterwards.  I guess his little sign can say 'North Pole' or maybe a name of whoever will get that block.

These stockings also look great (don't know why, but the song - Good King Wenceslas will spontaneously spring up in my head when I look at this block, and then I have to fight to make it stop). The warm heart is so cute. Really easy to put that one together.

The cute tree is one of the small 6" blocks and very simple and easy to make. The snowman is just darling.
There were enough blocks to put together a 'collection' as an E-Book.

I actually enjoyed this - sitting and remembering each one again and the book - remembering the planning and the working together to make all the links work properly and finding a suitable cover. When all is going down, I tend to focus on what the end result will be or needs to be, and forget how the making of the patterns was also fun and how I enjoyed it too.

All the patterns and the e-book are in my Craftsy shop. Feel free to have a browse.

Hope you have a great day and also find just 5 minutes to remember something special that was part of your 2013.
