Charley Harper Calendar

Hi everyone...

Today was earmarked for the Map quilt I started but....

I had the piece I made up on the wall, and I kept feeling that I just don't like it in those colours.... I really do want it brighter and with solid fabrics....which means....

I have to start again. Not too much bother because I only made one of the corners. Now I need to go and find solid fabrics that don't look like some cheap see-through excuse... and I'll have to save up for them too ....

So for now....No map quilt...

My Charley Harper calendar arrived in the post, so naturally I was doing the Happy Dance...

This was a To Me, From Me Christmas present that finally got here....

our postal system here is soooooo slow...
But now, I'm thrilled!!

I painted the January page using watercolour inks... They're really intense on their own but they do also water down nicely. The paper just wasn't too happy about it though... Really thirsty paper...

Anyway, that's it for Monday...

Hope you all have a great week!

I feel your pain Janeen. Good quality solids are hard to find.

I find you so fabulous and interesting, Janeen - and I confess to feeling like a true kindred spirit because I also am a HUGE FAN of Charley Harper. I have many of your designs and so enjoy making them. Getting your email is a highlight of my inbox, and tho I don't write often, I want you to know you have a big fan on the west coast of the U.S.!! Happy sewing!

My calendar just arrive last week, too. I was going to leave it blank for a possible quilt idea I have but your colored page looks so nice. I might have to give it a try with watercolors.
I'm looking forward to the map but agree about brighter more solid mappish colors being needed. Or maybe some bright but very subtle prints if they are easier to find than solids.
