Art Quilts

I was watching a lady doing an Art Quilt the other day and I decided to also give it a go. I bought a course through Craftsy called "Art Quilting 101" with Wendy Butler Berns. Wow, those quilts that she shows as examples in the videos make your mouth water and your eyes tear. They are SOOOO beautiful.

This is so different from any kind of quilting I've tried before, I'm still out on the verdict.
This is our "project" we're working on at the moment - cutting out shapes and then sewing them down with different stitches. It's difficult to get yourself out of the mindset of sewing in a certain way and then suddenly going outside of the lines and doing things differently.

I cut out a few circles and then triangles and once I started laying them down and playing around, I saw a Japanese girl, so that's the direction I went in - okay, maybe a little overboard. I still have the face to finish and some of the flowers in the foreground. Not sure what happens next - will have to look at more of the videos.

My hands are 'itching' to do this as a paper pieced pattern, but I will control the addiction and finish this for now.

Have a great week-end!

Way to try something new, Janeen! I love that you saw a Geisha in the shapes. Looking forward to seeing where you take this next.

Looks great Janeen. I'm sure it will become a paper pieced pattern eventually.
Thanks again for joining Show & Tell.
