Friday Finish with week 3

It's Friday again! It feels as if this week has gone by really fast.

I've started on my "Transportation Collection" for kids quilts and here are my designs so far:

I'm going to work on these on the week-end, so hopefully come Monday, I'll have a whole bunch more.

I haven't sewn anything new, because I have been busy with my week 3 block for our "Girl with long hair in the wind" QAL.

Here's what I've done so far...

I made each piece of the block first and then sewed them together according to the instructions.

This is the finished block for week 3.

After sewing week 3 to week 2, I stuck the large block up against the cupboard. This gives you a good idea of the height of the art quilt.

OOOO  yay!!!  I was featured on Fine Craft Guild - my mini quilt postcard,  and I'm really excited to be doing a regular post for them each week. Button for them on top left of blog also.

I like the direction that you are heading with the QAL - not a color brown fan but yours looks great.

Your hair looks great! I had some trouble with the second block. Not sure what happened - all was well, but when it finished it isn't square! The pattern fit together just fine before I sewed it, so the problem must be in the way I put the pieces together. I'm think I'm ok though - I always work with an extra 1/4" all the way round. If not - well, I'm not going to have to make it work! No time for repeats. :)

Susan I'm having the same issues ~ my blocks are coming out between 11 1/4 to 11 1/2 my first block came out 12 x 11 3/4 but if you look at Janeen's her blocks look like they taper down some what too.
Are we suppose to keep all the paper on the blocks at this point?

Hello to you all!
The blocks are not all exactly the same BUt they will match up and they will work out.
When I designed the quilt I drew in dividing lines by eyeballing it and now it seems you have .5" differences. Do not panic! It will work out. The overall size in the end will be fine. I have left the paper on mine so that I can sew the next row onto the sewing line of the pattern. If you change your sewing line now, your overall quilt will be wrong.
