September - Block of the Month

Today is our new Block of the Month for both BOM's.

We'll start on our Beginner Block of the Month for September.
This month we have only 1 block to make and its really easy too.

Here we have a few with different colour ways

Once you have your pieces sorted out, write onto the paper which colour you would like to use

the strips that are in the middle and the outside are very straight foward, and I held them onto the paper with a pin until I needed to trim them to the correct size and sew them to the middle sections.

This block is really easy to make

I hope you enjoy sewing your block together too...

The pattern is Free and you can find it in my Craftsy shop.

There is a BOM page button on the right of the blog where you will find all the block of the month information. On each of these I will add the pattern with quick links too.

This month we are in Australia

Our block for September's BOM is of Sydney Harbour. We see the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House.

The sky and water here show the sunset in blues and purples, but you are welcome to change it up just as you like.

Our block this month was made by Jan of Sew Surprising in Australia.

I asked Jan to send us a few of her 'process' photos so that you could all get an idea of how others prepare and sew their blocks.

This is the Fabric guide where she pinned a small scrap of fabric onto each colour block so that at a glace she can see which colour to grab.

To get those papers to lie down and stay, she used paper clips. Works just as great as those clips that you can get for the binding.

This is the back of the opera house section.
Press your seams to one side and you can also pull off the paper on those seams to get everything to lie down and not be so bulky.

And Bam! This is Jan's finished block!
Its wonderful! Thanks so much for helping me out.

Here is our 'Wanderlust' BOM so far...

The block is FREE for September and is available in my Craftsy shop.

I hope you have fun!

The BOM information is in the button to the right of the blog where you can also find the BOM buttons if you would like to spread the word.
Thanks
