put together and hosted by Marian at Seams to be Sew
This year we looked into making a row of 12x30" (31x77cm) of a favourite Christmas Carol.
How do you choose..... there's so many and I love so many of them....
I finally decided on "Do you hear what I hear"
This is my interpretation of the carol......
We received 4 fat quarters from Northcott Fabrics to include in our rows and I chose the sandstone colours for the 'village' and the purple/blue colour under the star and then the green of the grass. Thank you so much Northcott Fabrics. They were kind enough to even have in couriered to my front door here in South Africa.... Thank you!!
I decided to add the starry night instead of the solid background and I think the photo doesn't really do it justice, the real thing here on my design wall is gorgeous....
Here are a few close ups of the row -
The night wind coming in to tell the Good News....The 3 wise men following the star
Here is the shepherd boy and the sheep and in the distance the stable where our Lord Jesus was born...
You can download this row for FREE in my Craftsy Shop
I realize its a lot of work (I know - I did also sew it up) but the end result is so stunning and well worth the effort. I've heard so many negative comments about the amount of pieces and 'small pieces' in my patterns - but you know what..........I DON'T CARE!! the end result is always worth just going the extra mile....
Did you know!!!
The same "star" that showed the wise men where the King was born, was the planet Jupiter in the Virgo constellation which is right now in 2017 in the same place again.....
Coincidence - I think not! This is not astrology - this was shown by NASA.
Now for the giveaways!!
Make sure to add your name and email address to the widget. ALSO - each of the other blogs also have rows to show and giveaways to dish out.... be sure to also visit them too.

Because of thefact that your patternshave somany small pieces are so beautiful!!!!!
I am quite surprised to read about negative comments. Don't people realize that by having the smaller piece the more detail your creating. I appreciate every effort you make in the creation of your patterns Janeen, and I am always in love with everything you do, but this pattern, in particular, is truly a favorite... You've created a wonderful pattern and I am blessed to be able to call you a friend and look forward to all your creations.
Love this!
Ich danke dir ganz herzlich für alle die Mühe die du dir gibst es detailgetreu zu machen. Es ist auch für dich viel Arbeit, das sollte niemand übersehen.
Gruß Guilitta
Once again... "Thank YOU!" for sharing with us all your wonderful patterns.
You have one of my favorite songs and I luv the row.
Hi Janeen I think your pattern is Wonderfull! You've captured the real Wonder that happend that special night. I think these tiny little pieces just make the pattern stunning. I teach classes how to do this tiny work and always start with the bigger pieces. At the end they all can do the tiny pieces. After this workshop, people always tell me they finally know the secret of working with the right tools and trics. So keep on designing the way you do, I love your designs. THANKS Heleen
I didn't know the star is still in the same place. That's a sign of a long lasting and important Gift to the world!
I think this is stunning! And the starry sky is so realistic--they would have seen millions of stars in the blackness. Love it!

Looks like alot of work. BUT if you love what you do its just plain fun... tyty for sharing.... happyness04431@yahoo.com
Another beautiful pattern, I don't know how you create so many varied designs
This is a stunning row and I like your interpretation of the carol. If people don't like the tiny pieces, they don't have to make your patterns. You tell people what level of pattern it is and why, so they know ahead of time. I am at a beginning level, but I like the detail the small pieces bring to your patterns. The subjects do not look like blobs. Keep on doing what you have always done. And thank you for the wonderful pattern.
Love the row! So interesting about the "star" Jupiter.
Absolutely incredible! You're right - so worth the extra effort!

Fascinating info about Jupiter! Thanks for sharing it.
Non voglio offendere nessuno, ma la tua striscia se non è la più bella sicuramente tra le migliori (per me la più bella)....grazie cose sempre per tutto e complimenti
Silvana
Thank you so much for providing this row! It is great!
Your patterns are not for everyone. Your patterns fill a niche that few other designers do. I'm glad you have decided to stay with your design style. Just remember, you can't please everyone.
I love the detail you put into all of your paterns Janeen - keep designing for yourself! (not everyone is a beginner paper piecer!) One of your birdhouse designs was my earliest pp projects, and my friend uses that simple bag everyday as a purse :)
your rows (blocks) are always stunning! my little nativity scene looks plain compared to yours ;)
I just love this row! And I agree, the tiny pieces add definition to your row! I know doing a pattern that has many tiny pieces can be a pain but oh how nice it looks when its done! Great job!!
I love the detail that your smaller pieces bring. If they want larger pieces, there are easier patterns to do. You really do a great job designing and I look forward to see what your creativity brings us. Thank-you Janeen!
Very pretty, thanks for sharing and the giveaways!

I am new to paper piecing but do want to try this. So cute!
I happen to like using tiny pieces with paper piecing so I really appreciated this row. It's beautiful. My motto is "I dabble in small pieces." My mother collects nativity scenes so she just might find this row as a wall hanging under her tree this year. Thanks for the pattern. Karen
