Block 1 - Gardener's Wife Quilt-a-Long

Hello everyone!

Today is the start of the
Gardener's Wife QaL!!!!

The theme of our quilt a long will be a 'country garden' and everything that could be found in it. I loved the Farmer's Wife and Gypsy Wife quilts so I've climbed up onto that bandwagon and now we have a Gardener's Wife too.

Join us as we wander through her beautiful garden, looking around corners to see all the beautiful plants and trees she's planted and who pops in for a visit - even if its only fleeting.
Imagine a cute country place where the air is fresh and the rolling hills welcome you to rest and stay a while.

Each Monday I will release a new block for this QaL. They will measure 10" (26cm) and be on an easier intermediate level. Im sure beginners could join in because in the end all paper piecing works the same way.
The blocks will be available in my online shop under the category of Gardener's Wife QaL.

Don't worry if you can't keep up or have somewhere to go - you can work this one on your own time. You can collect all 42 of the blocks or just use a few. Its all up to you.

This will be the layout that I will be following.
I'm thinking of making small pathways (3") between the various groups making it look like a planned garden. The animals, insects, birds will be interspersed among the Veggies and plants - something like a real garden.

This layout will make the quilt
69x85" (1m79cm x 2m15cm) about a double bed size.

There's no rules, so you can make yours just as you like
The blocks are 10" so that the PDF files are not too large and printing doesn't break the bank.

If you want it larger, then you can photocopy it to a size you like.

Alternatively you can make your garden quilt on a grid of 6x7 blocks and then it will end at 60x70"

Now ON with the SHOW!!

Today we are going to start off at the Vegetable Patch and find a large juicy Tomato.

You could make your block in sweet vintage fabrics or go bold and use up your batik scraps. Anything you like.

I've been told my Tomato looks like a Heirloom Tomato. I'm happy with that.

There is a FaceBook group you can join and post your photos of your blocks that the rest of us get to oooh and aaah over. It gives a sense of "Im not doing this alone"

PLEASE don't share the files. Each person can go to the shop and buy their own. I've made them cheaper because of the size of the quilt.

Join in!!
Come and have some fun with these new garden patterns.
